Donations

Aside from supporting LeRoy Heritage Museum, Inc. financially, you may wish to make a donation of LeRoy, Granville or Barclay Mountain related artifacts or other historically relevant items to the museum. This can be done at any time by contacting the museum. We ask that you sign a Donation Agreement for our records, so that we can keep track of who each item came from and when the transaction was made.

The LeRoy Heritage Museum, Inc. is focused on preserving the history and heritage of LeRoy Township and Barclay Mountain. As a result, our collection is composed of items that were used, made, written, or photographed in these areas. The museum welcomes donations of these types of items. The museum will also accept paper records and photographs from Canton and Granville Townships, but only on a limited basis. Do not assume that we already have something that you would like to donate. In many cases, we might not.

If you have items, information, or photographs that you would be willing to donate to LHM, drop them off at the museum (257 Mill Street, LeRoy) during regular hours or call the museum office at 570-364-5003 and we will pick them up if they are in Bradford County. You may also mail or ship them to LeRoy Heritage Museum, Inc., 8051 Southside Road, Canton, PA 17724. Questions may be directed to LeRoy Heritage Museum, Inc.

INCLUDING LEROY HERITAGE MUSEUM IN YOUR WILL

You may have important family items that you would prefer to keep during your lifetime, however, it is important to consider what will happen to these items after your death. LHM suggests the following considerations to help you decide what to do.

Do you have children or other family members who would potentially receive these items?

  • If you answered yes to question one, the next important consideration is whether or not your children or other family will consider what you have to be important. We ask this question, because sometimes passing important family memorabilia on is not the best solution. You should consider whether these items will be properly cared for to ensure that they will last for generations to come. This question would result in a different answer in all families, but is a very important one to consider.
  • If you answered no to question one, please keep in mind that if you do not designate where you want these items to go, they may end up in an auction, and then lost forever.

    • If you have any doubts about whether your family history will be taken care of, we would invite you to consider leaving these items to LeRoy Heritage Museum, Inc. This could include photographs, framed portraits, diaries, letters, antique clothing or furniture, and any other item that is important to your family.

    HOW TO PARTICIPATE

    You may leave specific items, or entire estates to LeRoy Heritage Museum, Inc. by simply including us in your will. See “Including LeRoy Heritage Museum in Your Will” below (under Estate Planning).

    If you wish to donate in this way, please send us a letter describing your intentions, so that we can thank you for your donation.
